SUPPORTING THE CALGARY MS SOCIETYThe Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada is an organization founded by volunteers and continually fueled by the initiative and dedication of thousands of volunteers across the country. With support from the citizens of Calgary and organizations like Carter Cadillac, the MS Society of Canada is committed to improving the lives of Canadians with multiple sclerosis and accelerating the high-quality research that could end MS.This year the Carter group walked 13 km on the coldest day in February from Jack Carter Chevrolet’s dealership up the hill to Carter Cadillac. The MS Bike ride is the largest cycling series in North America to raise money to end this disease. Canada has the highest rate of multiple sclerosis (MS) in the world, with an estimated 77,000 Canadians living with the disease. Every summer thousands of cyclists of varying ages and fitness levels come together to participate in a one/two-day events from June to September through scenic and often spectacular parts of the country. The Carter group participated in the cycling journey in June starting in Airdrie to Olds and the team raised over $20,000.Carter Cadillac is also a titled sponsor for the MS Bike ride, donating several SUV’s used as support and shuttle transportation.

MAKING HISTORY COME ALIVE WITH HERITAGE PARKThe Famous 5 Centre of Canadian Women is the newest edition to Heritage Park. The Tudor Revival-style house, graciously donated by Peter and Adele McKeen is used to feature and share the stories of the famous 5 group of Albertan women and other Canadian women who made history. The famous 5 consists of the victorious Nellie McClung, Irene Parlby, Louise McKinney, Henrietta Muir Edwards and Emily Murphy. These brave women petitioned and won the right for women to be recognized as “Persons” under the British North America Act in 1929. This centre was designed as a replicated version of Nellie McClung’s vintage, yet charming house, which now serves as an refined venue to host dinner parties and elegant receptions at the park.

GIVING BACK WITH THE MUSTARD SEEDThe Mustard Seed has been aiding those facing and experiencing poverty in Alberta for decades. Over the years The Mustard Seed has expanded across western Canada with multiple locations in Alberta and British Columbia. The charity offers an expansive range of programs and services by providing basic needs (food, clothing, and hygiene items), education, employment programs, health and wellness services, spiritual care, housing, and emergency shelter. The Carter group greatly supports the charity’s mission to support those in need. We have sponsored events such as The Desjardins Golf Tournament in support of The Mustard Seed to help raise money for the worthy cause. The players at the gold tournament had the opportunity to a win a 48 month lease on a new 2019 Cadillac Escalade by getting a hole-in-one. Unfortunately, there was no lucky winner, but we auctioned off the vehicle so someone could enjoy a new vehicle all while raising money.
OUR SUPPORT DOESN'T STOP THEREThe Carter group also raises and donates money for The Mustard Seed annually, holding a food drive for the charity and put together hampers filled with toys for the children. We're proud to provide outreach vehicles for the Mustard Seed so they are able to properly educate the Calgary community on the services they can provide and raise awareness of the prominent issue of poverty.
HOW YOU CAN GET INVOLVEDJoin us in participating in your own company hamper drives, make individual or group donations, or give your time through volunteer opportunities to The Mustard Seed to improve the services available to other Calgarians when they need it most. Learn more about the services they provide here and learn how you can help The Mustard Seed in your own way.
